We had a great 11 day trip to Utah over Christmas and New Years but it has been a rude awakening being back home. The drive went really well, although we did get a speeding ticket on the way home and shortly after that got stuck in a vicious traffic jam that lasted almost 3 hours. Then within hours of being home I got knocked out by a nasty case of strep throat that just didn't want to leave, even with antibiotics. That pretty much took care of all of last week and put me behind even further than I already was. I finally feel normal again though and have control over my house once again. I'm so grateful to be feeling well enough to cuddle my little man. I didn't hold him for two days because I was contagious and just too weak (by the time I went in to the doctor my blood pressure was 90/50 and I felt like I was going to pass out). Two days without loves from Boston makes for one unhappy mom!

Also in Boston news, today we signed our official placement paperwork meaning he is no longer considered a foster child, but an adoptable child. This is really just a technicality but it does mean we're one huge step closer to finalization and more importantly, taking him to the temple to have him sealed to us. We're hoping to do that sealing around the end of April. Can't imagine eternity without this little guy so it better happen soon!
I don't think Kiara could imagine it either.

These two were so much fun on Christmas, although I don't currently have any way to prove it because I accidentally left my memory card with those pictures on it, in Utah. I do have a few shots from some of the other highlights of our trip though. For instance,
Sledding:
Kiara was obsessed with the snow. We keep forgetting she was only 14 months old when we moved here so snow is still a novelty to her. It was extra cold this trip, even for Utah, and we almost thought we wouldn't be able to fit in a sledding excursion this time but luckily it "warmed up" to around 40 on New Years Day so we made it out. Kiara loved it and continued to show her adventerous side. My older nieces and nephews were so sweet to continuously go down with her and she loved being a big kid with them. She also loved when Dad would go down with her. Mom however, was not such a big hit. She wanted nothing to do with me while we were there. Apparently she's already figured out she's too cool for me.

Another highlight of our trip was a cousins party we had with my dad's side of the family. We haven't all been in the same place since my Grandpa's funeral 13 years ago so it was really fun to see those who were able to make it. Hopefully next time we'll get everyone there!
What was everyone else's favorite part of Christmas break?
