Grandma Buttercup

I'm having a hard time believing it's really been a month since my last post. I must go by a different calendar than everyone else because I was thinking it was just last week. Anyway, we've had a lot going on since Boston last updated us so I will pick up where he left off.

The highlight of 2010 so far has been Grandma Buttercup coming to see us. "Buttercup" is what my mom calls Kiara so to distinguish between her two grandmas, Kiara started calling my mom Grandma Buttercup. She's a smart one, my girl!

We surprised Grandma by meeting her inside the airport instead of at the curb. Kiara's reaction was perfect!

This is how Kiara & Grandma were for the remainder of the trip, all the while Kiara was telling incredible stories and updating Gram on her current life events:
Boston loved cuddling with Grandma and fell asleep in her arms several times. It appears that's what he wanted to do when I took this picture!
Besides being the world's greatest grandma (seriously, she should win some sort of medal or something), Mama is quite the baker. She is famous for her cinnamon rolls, french bread, breadsticks, granola, and many other things. I asked her to bring her recipe book with her when she came and we had a baking extravaganza! I don't have a KitchenAid or a Bosch so I had to knead the french bread by hand. I've decided I don't like kneading and will be buying my french bread from now on. That is until I get a Bosch (Ben, Mother's Day is coming up...btw I need an apron too!). Kiara loved the process though and put me to shame with the work she did on her Play-Doh!
I realized we haven't taken a 3 generation picture since Kiara was 2 days old so we set the auto timer on the camera and went for it. Notice how Kiara & my mom are both looking above the camera?
Definitely 2 peas in a pod!
One afternoon I overheard Kiara & Grandma having a little girl talk in the guest room so I stood outside the door to capture the audio. I ran out of room on my memory card so I was only able to capture a few seconds but this sort of talk went on for at least 5 minutes. It was classic!
I really think Grandma is Kiara's favorite person in the world. As long as she's around Kiara is H-A-P-P-Y!

When she leaves however, it's a much different story. Dropping Grandma off at the airport was one of the most traumatic, heartbreaking events of my life and definitely of Kiara's. It took 3 tries to get her to let Grandma walk away and almost 20 minutes to get her to stop sobbing! It was seriously brutal!
Luckily we'll be in Utah in 6 weeks for Auntie Audrey's wedding so the BFFs can get their fix. Until then Grandma, we love you and can't imagine a world without you in it!
